In a time when many elite athletes choose national academies or specialized sports schools, two remarkable student-athletes from a small public high school in Kentucky are proving that extraordinary success can still begin at home.

West Jessamine High School in Nicholasville, Kentucky is proudly home to two of the state’s brightest soccer stars—Sophie Bolton and Brady Stockton. While they spend part of their weeks training in professional environments with Lexington Sporting Club, they continue to represent their hometown school with pride, demonstrating that academic excellence and elite athletic performance can go hand in hand.

Sophie Bolton: Raising the Standard

Sophie Bolton, a goalkeeper in the Class of 2028, has quickly become one of Kentucky’s most accomplished young soccer players. She trains with Lexington Sporting Club’s USL Super League Academy and has also competed with the club’s USL W League team, gaining invaluable experience in a professional environment while continuing to compete for West Jessamine High School.

Academically, Sophie is just as impressive. She maintains a 4.3 GPA while taking Advanced Placement courses and is actively involved in FCA and DECA. She was also selected as a Rogers Explorer for STEM, highlighting her commitment to excellence beyond the soccer field.

As a freshman, Sophie earned the starting goalkeeper position at West Jessamine and became the only freshman in Kentucky named to the KHSAA All-State Team. In 2025, she was also recognized as a First Team All-State selection. Her résumé also includes Kentucky ODP, the Midwest Regional ODP, ECNM Regional Team Selection, and selection to the U.S. Youth National Team Identification Camp x 2!

Despite her growing list of accomplishments, Sophie remains grounded and credits much of her success to the teammates around her.

“I thrive under pressure. The tougher the competition, the better I play—and I don’t mind a good PK shootout either,” Sophie said. “But my biggest compliment goes to my teammates because without them, I could never do any of this. Some of them are my best friends.”

Brady Stockton: Chasing Excellence

Brady Stockton, a defender in the Class of 2027, has built an equally impressive path while balancing academics and elite soccer. After signing an Academy Contract with the Lexington Sporting Club

USL Championship team in August 2026, Brady trains and competes with the first team and can feature in the squad on USL-C matchdays without forfeiting NCAA eligibility.

“This signing means everything to me, being a local kid. I knew this was what I wanted the day I started training with them, and I’m ready to help contribute in whatever way they need,” said Stockton.

He has also been a member of the Lexington Sporting Club U20 USL Academy since 2024.

Academically, Brady has continued to seek excellence through multiple AP and dual-credit classes while maintaining a 4.37 GPA.

Brady played for West Jessamine during his freshman and junior years, earning honors such as United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team and First Team All-State. In addition, Brady was the captain of the USYS ODP National Team in 2024 and was named Kentucky Youth Soccer Association Male Athlete of the Year in 2025.

Known for his discipline, leadership, and relentless work ethic, Brady embraces every opportunity to step outside his comfort zone. His experiences competing in the USL Championship, USL Academy, and UPSL have sharpened his tactical awareness, physicality, and speed of play.

His long-term goals are clear: earn a top collegiate soccer opportunity, receive an outstanding education, and ultimately play professionally.

“I thrive in situations where I am pushed out of my comfort zone and work to earn my spot. I want to be part of a team and community that constantly pushes each other to improve.”

More Than Great Athletes

What makes Sophie and Brady’s stories especially remarkable is not simply their success on the soccer field; it is how they’ve managed to balance an elite athletic lifestyle while remaining committed students at their hometown public high school.

Both student-athletes complete college coursework online while also managing rigorous Advanced Placement classes. Their days often begin with professional training alongside Lexington Sporting Club’s USL teams before transitioning back to the classroom, followed by additional training, recovery, homework, and the countless responsibilities that come with being elite student-athletes. Their schedules demand discipline, sacrifice, and time management well beyond what most teenagers experience.

Both Sophie and Brady remain uncommitted and are currently navigating the college recruiting process. Their accomplishments, character, and work ethic have attracted significant attention from college coaches across the country, making them two of Kentucky’s most sought-after student-athletes.

A Community Opportunity Like No Other

One of the biggest reasons these student-athletes have been able to pursue opportunities at such a high level is the incredible investment Lexington Sporting Club has made in developing young talent. By creating a professional pathway right here in Central Kentucky, the club has opened doors that once required athletes to leave home to pursue elite training and competition. Sophie and Brady have both benefited tremendously from the opportunity to train in a professional environment while continuing to attend and represent their local public high school.

Our community is incredibly fortunate to have an organization like Lexington Sporting Club in its own backyard. The club’s commitment to developing players both on and off the field has provided life-changing opportunities for countless young athletes, allowing them to chase their dreams without sacrificing their education, hometown pride, or the support of their families.

Their journeys remind us that greatness is not defined by the size of your school; it is defined by commitment, perseverance, and the willingness to chase your dreams.

West Jessamine High School is incredibly proud to call Sophie Bolton and Brady Stockton its own. They are outstanding ambassadors for their school, their community, and the future of Kentucky soccer. While their next chapters have yet to be written, one thing is certain: no matter where the recruiting process takes them, they will always have a home at West Jessamine.

This isn’t an easy path. Both student-athletes balance demanding AP coursework, college classes, and the expectations of elite-level soccer while representing their school and community with pride. Their success is a testament to hard work, supportive families, dedicated coaches and teammates, exceptional teachers, and a community that believes in investing in young people.

Small school. Big dreams. Endless possibilities.
