LEXINGTON, Ky. — Lexington Christian Academy is turning to a coach who believes baseball can be about much more than what happens between the lines.

LCA Athletics announced the hiring of Jeff Chapuran as the Eagles’ new varsity baseball coach, welcoming him to a program with a strong tradition and a clear emphasis on developing student-athletes both on and off the field.

Chapuran’s first message to the LCA community makes it clear that he understands the responsibility that comes with leading the program.

“What a blessing it is to have the opportunity to be a part of such an incredible community.”

For Chapuran, the opportunity is about becoming part of something bigger than baseball. In his introductory statement, he emphasized the importance of faith, academics, athletics, character and integrity—values he believes should remain at the center of the program.

“LCA Baseball has always been a program built on a strong foundation of faith, academics and athletics,” Chapuran said. “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to help build upon that foundation that has been laid by so many great people.”

That foundation will now serve as the starting point for a new chapter of LCA baseball.

Developing More Than Baseball Players

One of Chapuran’s biggest priorities will be the development of the young men who wear the Eagles uniform.

He described his goal as developing players who demonstrate faith, character and integrity, using the game of baseball as a vehicle for lessons that extend well beyond the diamond.

“I look forward to developing strong young men of faith, character, and integrity through the game of baseball,” Chapuran said.

That philosophy fits naturally into the larger mission of Lexington Christian Academy, where athletics are part of a broader educational experience.

Baseball presents a unique opportunity to teach those lessons. The game demands preparation, accountability, teamwork and the ability to respond to both success and adversity. For a head coach, those moments can become some of the most valuable teaching opportunities of a player’s high school career.

A New Era for the Eagles

With Chapuran taking over the varsity program, LCA baseball enters a new era with an opportunity to continue building on the work of the coaches and players who came before him.

Taking over an established program comes with expectations, but Chapuran appears ready to embrace both the challenge and the opportunity.

His introductory message repeatedly returned to gratitude—not only for the position itself, but for the people who have helped establish LCA baseball as a respected program.

That appreciation also points toward his vision for the future: respect what has already been built while continuing to move the program forward.

For the Eagles, that means a new voice in the dugout, a new approach and a coach focused on developing the complete student-athlete.

Looking Ahead

The 2027 season will provide the first opportunity for Chapuran to put his philosophy into action as the Eagles’ varsity head coach.

While wins and losses will inevitably be part of the scoreboard, Chapuran’s early message suggests that success at LCA will be measured in more than victories.

It will be measured by how players grow, how teammates treat one another, how they represent their school and how they carry the lessons learned through baseball into the rest of their lives.

“I’m excited for what God has in store for LCA Baseball,” Chapuran said.

Now, the next chapter is ready to begin.

Welcome to the Eagle family, Coach Chapuran.
